What aerospace and defence castings does Trushape make?
We cast airframe brackets and structural fittings, housings and mounts for optical, radar and navigation systems, components for weapon, armament and missile systems, and rugged parts for military vehicles. Parts run from 0.003 to 30 kg (0.1 oz to 66 lb) by investment casting and up to 90 kg (198 lb) by other processes, supplied as-cast or machined ready to assemble.
Is Trushape AS9100 or NADCAP certified?
No. Trushape is certified to ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, ISO 45001:2018 and ISO 13485:2016, and does not currently hold AS9100, NADCAP, IATF 16949, PED or ASME approvals. Where a programme calls for them, we support MRO, aftermarket, sub-tier and prototype work to your drawing and inspection plan, and treat formal aerospace approval as a roadmap item.
How does ISO 13485 apply to aerospace and defence work?
ISO 13485 is the quality standard for medical devices, not an aerospace approval. It shows that our processes are validated, risk-managed and fully traceable, and that same discipline, with 100% inspection of critical parts, is applied to every aerospace and defence casting we make.
Which alloys do you cast for aerospace and defence?
Precipitation-hardening stainless steels 17-4PH (CB7Cu-1) and 15-5PH (CB7Cu-2); nickel and cobalt alloys such as Inconel 718, Inconel 625, Hastelloy and Stellite 6; high-strength steels such as 4340, EN24 and 4140; stainless 316, 316L and duplex F51; and aluminium alloys such as A356, LM25 and 535. More than 50 grades are on file.
What inspection and non-destructive testing do you do in-house?
Every critical part is 100% inspected. In-house we run radiographic, ultrasonic, dye penetrant and magnetic particle testing, dimensional inspection on a Zeiss CMM and Keyence VMM, spectrometer chemistry on every heat, and tensile, hardness and impact tests to your specification.
What documents and traceability come with each shipment?
Each shipment carries EN 10204 3.1 material certificates, or 3.2 when your order requires independent inspection, with NDT and dimensional reports, heat treatment records and heat-number traceability from melt to dispatch, so every part has one auditable record.
Can you make qualification batches and prototypes?
Yes. With 3D-printed patterns from our 3 FDM and 2 SLA printers we cast qualification samples and low volumes in 2 to 4 weeks, without hard tooling, then scale to series production with the same documented process once the part is approved.
What tolerances can you hold on aerospace and defence parts?
Investment castings typically hold CT5 to CT7 to VDG P690, with D2 as our standard grade and ±0.20 mm (±0.008 in) as the tightest agreed tolerance on dimensions up to 6 mm. Tighter tolerances on critical features are reached by CNC machining and confirmed on a Zeiss CMM.
Do you heat-treat and machine the castings?
Yes. Solution treatment and age hardening, quench and temper and stress relief are done in our own furnaces, and 8 CNC machines, including 4-axis Makino VMCs, machine bores, faces and threads to drawing, so parts leave ready to assemble.
Do you supply aerospace and defence castings to the USA, Canada and Europe?
Yes. Trushape exports castings to Germany, the UK, Belgium, Denmark, Spain, Italy and other countries, and serves buyers across North America and Europe, including the United States, Canada and Mexico. Parts ship by sea or air freight with English documentation, and delivery terms are agreed per order.
Which aluminium alloys do you use for lightweight parts?
For airframe brackets, housings and mounts we cast A356, LM25 and 535. A356 can be heat-treated for strength, and aluminium castings weigh about a third as much as steel, which makes them the usual choice for lightweight housings and structural parts.
Why source aerospace and defence castings from India?
India offers a deep foundry base, strong engineering talent and competitive cost, and gives North American and European buyers a proven second source outside China. Trushape adds an integrated plant, four ISO certifications, more than 24 years of casting experience and English documentation to make that switch low risk.
